It’s finally happened. You’ve seen yourself in the mirror in unflattering lighting, and you’ve noticed early signs of aging.

You can’t stop the clock, but you can help your skin age gracefully. You may not look eighteen anymore, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t keep your skin smooth and healthy for a long time.

We’re here to help you out. Read on for a few quick tips for reducing or preventing signs of aging skin.

  1. Avoid Harmful Sunlight

The absolute best thing you can do for your skin is limit your exposure to sunlight. While the sun will give you a summertime glow, it will also speed up the aging process (and increase your chance of developing skin cancer).

Limiting doesn’t mean that you have to avoid the sun altogether. Sunlight is an excellent source of vitamin D.

Instead, do your best to protect your face. Use a high-SPF sunscreen for any sunlight exposure.

Consider wearing hats and sunglasses to block more sunlight from your face when you go outside.

  1. Update Your Skincare Routine

Once you start noticing fine lines and other signs of aging skin, it’s time to upgrade your skincare routine. Even if you’re only in the early stages, a good skincare routine will slow the aging process and may even reverse some damage.

You don’t have to break the bank to upgrade your routine, but you should invest in a few additional products. You want to include a retinoid, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, and a thick nighttime moisturizer (at the least).

Assemble both a morning and nighttime skincare routine. Focus on protection during the day and healing at night.

When in doubt, talk to a dermatologist. They can help you assess your skin’s unique needs and even offer more intense procedures, like chemical peels.

  1. Consider Professional Procedures

If your crow’s feet and wrinkles are already impacting your self-confidence, there’s nothing wrong with paying for cosmetic procedures. While some people think it’s vain to invest in injections or surgery, anything that makes you feel better about yourself is worth the cost.

Botox is the most popular option for early in the aging process. It freezes your muscles and prevents movement, so new wrinkles don’t form.

You could also get injections or filler to “fill out” your cheeks and the area around your mouth to hide wrinkles and fine lines.

You don’t have to jump right into getting a facelift. Even these non-invasive methods will make a big difference, and they’re affordable.

Prevent and Reverse Signs of Aging With These Tips

You can’t turn back the clock, but you can give yourself healthier and more youthful-looking skin if you use the right products, protect yourself from the sun, and (if necessary) invest in professional procedures.

It’s time to start shopping for new skincare products to reverse signs of aging!
