It portrays Jesus’ final 12 hours before his crucifixion in Jerusalem. It starts with Judas Iscariot’s betrayal of Jesus when he’s captured at the Garden of Gethsemane. 

Jesus is then brought before the governor, Pontius Pilate, and is sentenced for blasphemy. In agreeance with the crowd, Pontius Pilate declares a crucifixion and orders Jesus to carry his cross to Golgotha. 

He is then nailed to the cross and is left to die. 

  1. I Can Only Imagine

The film, I Can Only Imagine, premiered in 2018 and focuses on the true story of Bart Millard. It grossed $86 million in the box office and had success amongst many people at the time. 

This movie starts with the childhood of Bart Millard. He lives in Texas with his mother and father. However, his father is mentally and physically abusive.

And one day, after returning from camp, he returns to find his mother has left their home. Of course, he blamed his father for this and their relationship only suffered worse. 

However, as Bart got older he still tried pleasing his father by playing football. And one day that ended due to injury and then set him on his musical path. 

Sadly, sickness strikes his father and he has to confront his faith. Thus, bringing to life the hit song, “I Can Only Imagine” by MercyMe

  1. God’s Not Dead

God’s Not Dead came out in 2014 and is based on the book written by Rice Broocks. And it made $64.7 million in sales worldwide and is among one of the best free Christian movies

This movie is about Josh Wheaton who is in a freshman philosophy class. His professor denies God’s existence and requires each student to agree in writing. 

However, Josh objects to this request and is challenged by his professor. So the professor instructs Josh to prove God is real and defend his argument. This leads to multiple debates between the two. 

And the class acts as a jury to decide who wins the argument in the end. If the jury decides in the professor’s favor, Josh will fail.
